The group struggles to decide whether to let Axel and Oscar, the remaining prisoners, join the their group. T-Dog is the only one who’s willing to let them in, but the others all agree that they don’t think it’s safe to let them stay with them. The survivors then are surprised by a group of walkers traveling through the prison’s corridors and are separated from each other while they flee for safe grounds. Rick, Daryl, and Glenn make it outside the prison to find that the gate’s chain was cut, letting the walkers in the prison. They suspect that Axel and Oscar purposely did this to sabotage the group’s prison safe house. Nonetheless, the group needs their help as the prison’s alarm system suddenly sets off, attracting hordes of walkers from outside the prison’s walls. In the generator room, they find Andrew who has led a pack of walkers there for the other side of the prison. At a time of desperation, Oscar takes Rick’s gun and kills Andrew with it proving that they will be loyal to the group and not betray them like Andrew has done.
In the meantime, T-Dog gets bitten by a walker as he tries to close the gate from where the walkers are coming in from. He escapes with Carol, but soon sacrifices himself so that Carol can go on and live. Daryl later finds Carol’s missing head wrap and assumes she has been lost to the walkers as well. Maggie, Carl, and Lori were stuck hiding in the boiler room from the walkers, but soon Lori goes into labor with her child. Maggie must perform a C-Section to save the baby, but Lori doesn’t survive the procedure. Carl must now shoot his own mother in the head before she comes back as a walker. After the group reunites, Ricks is riddled with a mix of emotions as he’s overjoyed to see his new born baby, yet dreadfully mournful to hear that his wife has died.
